Setting a default value for a record

If you want the same text to appear in a particular field you can set a default value.

Setting a default value in a database tableFor example, you may want the county name ‘Limerick’ to be set as a default value in each record in an employee details table if most of the employees live in Limerick.

 

 

  1. Go to the Design View of the table.
  2. Select the relevant field – e.g. County field.
  3. Go to General tab in the Field Properties section of the screen.
  4. In the Default Value section type the relevant text e.g. Limerick.
